Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Klyr — how it works, what it is (and isn’t), and how to get the most from it.

About Klyr

What is Klyr?

Klyr is an AI-powered self-regulation and mental wellness tool. You type a thought that's stressing you out — anxious, overwhelming, or just stuck in your head — and Klyr instantly rewrites it four different ways: calm, clear, confident, and action-oriented. The idea is to give you a mental "reset" in seconds, without journaling or friction.

How does Klyr work?

You type any anxious or repetitive thought into the text box. Klyr's AI reads it and generates four rewritten versions simultaneously: (1) Calm — reduces the emotional charge so it feels less threatening; (2) Clear — strips away the mental noise and simplifies what's actually happening; (3) Confident — reframes the thought from a position of personal strength; (4) Action — turns the anxiety into a concrete, practical next step you can take right now.

What does "thought reframing" mean?

Thought reframing is a cognitive technique from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). It means consciously challenging and changing the way you interpret a situation. When you're anxious, your brain tends to lock onto the worst-case reading of events. Reframing doesn't deny the situation — it finds alternative, more accurate, more helpful ways to think about it. Klyr automates this process so you can do it in seconds instead of needing to work through it manually.

Who is Klyr for?

Klyr is for anyone who experiences everyday anxiety, overthinking, or stress — the kind most people deal with regularly. Work pressure, presentation nerves, relationship worry, social anxiety, rumination, decision paralysis, imposter syndrome. If you find yourself stuck in a thought loop that's hard to break out of, Klyr is built for that. It's not designed for clinical mental health conditions or crisis situations.

Who built Klyr?

Klyr is an independent product built by a small team focused on practical mental wellness tools. Questions or feedback? Email hello@klyrmind.app.

Features

What are the four types of rewrites Klyr gives?

Every thought you submit gets rewritten in four ways: Calm (lowers the emotional intensity — useful when you're in fight-or-flight mode), Clear (simplifies and de-clutters the thought — useful when you feel overwhelmed), Confident (reframes from a place of self-trust and capability), and Action (identifies one concrete step you can take, turning anxiety into momentum).

What breathing exercises does Klyr include?

Klyr includes three guided breathing techniques, each with step-by-step instructions and an animated visual guide: (1) Physiological Sigh — double inhale through the nose followed by a long exhale. Stanford researchers found this is the fastest way to reduce physiological stress in real time. (2) 4-7-8 Breathing — inhale for 4 counts, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Designed to calm the amygdala (the brain's stress center). (3) Box Breathing — equal 4-count phases for inhale, hold, exhale, hold. Used by Navy SEALs and emergency responders to maintain calm under pressure.

What calming sounds does Klyr offer?

Klyr includes six ambient sounds synthesized directly in your browser — no downloads needed: Brown noise (deeper, warmer than white noise — great for focus and sleep), Rain (soothing pink-spectrum rainfall), Delta binaural beats (0.5–2 Hz, associated with deep rest), Theta binaural beats (4–8 Hz, associated with creativity and meditation), Alpha binaural beats (8–14 Hz, associated with calm focus), and a 432 Hz Singing Bowl with harmonic overtones. All sounds include a volume slider.

What is the daily quote feature?

Every day, Klyr's AI generates a new motivational or grounding quote — along with a practical action you can take that day (for example, "Take a 10-minute walk without your phone"). The quote and action reset at midnight.

Does Klyr detect crisis language?

Yes. Klyr scans your input for language that suggests you may be in crisis or dealing with heavy trauma. If it detects concerning language — such as suicidal ideation, self-harm, or overdose references — it surfaces emergency resources immediately (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, 911). If it detects heavy but non-acute content — such as descriptions of past abuse, sexual assault, or grief — it surfaces support resources including SAMHSA (1-800-662-4357), RAINN (1-800-656-4673), and NAMI (1-800-950-6264). This does not replace professional support.

Does Klyr work in other languages?

Yes. Klyr's interface and AI responses are available in 12 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and Russian.
